How to make no bake dog treats
These dog biscuits literally take about 5 minutes to make. Simply melt the ingredients to mix, pour them in your favorite silicon molds then pop them in the freezer to harden. Transfer to a freezer bag and store the treats in there to serve to your furry friends!
Recently we just watched the Disney movie Togo. It is a must family friend movie to watch. Its about the loyalty, honor, determination and love a dog has for its owner. Not just anyone. The one who saved them.
This year we adopted a new little pup this year named Skye. She is loving and adorable in every way possible, always eager to greet us with kisses the moment we walk through the front door. Two weeks ago, she had to have an eye removed and I had captured these pictures prior. One week ago, we had to put our older dog down. Dogs are forever always a part of us and teach us so many valuable things, especially how to love.
We have always provided our pups with natural foods to keep them strong and healthy. And one of my favorites is making these no-bake dog treats or giving our pup frozen or fresh pineapple to nibble on. I have been especially giving these homemade dog treats to our dog to help her as her eye heals thanks to all the health benefits of turmeric, coconut oil and cinnamon.
Health benefits of peanut butter & coconut oil dog treats
These tasty no bake dog treats are flavored with cinnamon and turmeric, which is optional to add. My family loves cinnamon added in all of our "human" no-bake nut butter snacks. It adds a little bit of spice and satisfying flavor which compliments peanut butter. Not only are these spices good for flavor they have intense healing powers.
Turmeric is a spice that helps to prevent and even reduce tumors, reduces inflammation, decreases risk of cancers, heart disease and symptoms of depression. It is a rich antioxidant to aid in healing the body and fighting off disease [source].
Cinnamon is a wonderful anti-inflammatory spice. It is high in antioxidants, helps regulate hormones and supports a healthy heart [source].
Coconut Oil can help with weight loss and is packed with omegas to support a healthy brain, prevents candida, boosts digestion, reduce cardiovascular risks, and in animals especially, helps to give them a shiny fur coat [source].
Organic Valencia Peanut Butter is packed with protein and minerals. Make sure to use organic Valencia peanuts. Valencia peanuts are grown in Mexico where the climate is dry and mold most likely does not effect the peanut. Other varieties (even just organic) may have harmful molds in them during production [source].
If you have a smaller dog you can break them up into smaller pieces and give them in small bites at a time. There are various molds to use such as these larger dog biscuit shapes but you can also use small squares.
Here is the dog biscuit mold I used and I also recommend these trays for smaller ones.

In a microwaveable bowl, add the peanut butter, coconut oil, cinnamon and turmeric and heat for 30 seconds-1 minute until slightly melted. You can also do this on the stove top by whisking it together in a small saucepan over low heat.
Whisk to combine, then using a ladle scoop it into the silicone molds to fill slightly over half way full. For biscuits this makes 5 or equivalent to 1 cup. Do not fill too high or it will spill over.
Transfer to a freezer keeping the silicon mold flat to harden evenly. Freezer for 25 minutes or until hardened. Once hard, transfer to a freezer bag and store in the freezer.

No-Bake Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats
Sharing is caring!
Fall is here (well almost here but the weather sure feels like it is fall) and that means pumpkin spice time.
Ive heard so much about pumpkin spice this or that on the radio for the last week or so already.
While Im not a big pumpkin spice fan, I do enjoy baking with pumpkin.
Pumpkin cake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars all are good.
But none of these can be shared with our dogs as most baked goods (including pumpkin baked goods) have too much sugar and other things that dogs shouldnt have.
Including pumpkin spice (the nutmeg in it is toxic to dogs).
While we shouldnt share our pumpkin or pumpkin spice flavored foods with our dogs, we can make them their own pumpkin treat.
No-Bake Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats have only three ingredients and are easy to make, no oven needed.

How to make no-bake pumpkin and peanut butter dog treats
These homemade dog treats are made with just three ingredients: pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and oats.
Always consult your veterinarian before giving your dog new foods.
Ingredient list
1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) fresh or canned is fine
cup creamy peanut butter (make sure it doesnt contain xylitol)
2 cups oats, Old-fashioned or Quick Oats
Directions
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix until well combined. You can start with a spoon, but eventually, it becomes easier to just mix with your hands.
Once combined, take a small amount of the pumpkin mixture and roll it into a bite-sized ball. Bite size will vary based on the size of your dog.
I made the larger balls around ping pong ball size for Luna (as shes a 100-pound German Shepherd). I made smaller balls for Morgan (since shes only 23 pounds).
Place them on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper or parchment paper and place them in the fridge for about an hour.
After they have chilled for an hour, they should hold their shape enough to be able to be placed in an airtight container for storage.
Store in the fridge and use within a week. Or store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
More information about the ingredients
Pumpkin puree
Pumpkin has many benefits for dogs and is a great source of fiber and vitamins A, C, and E.
When shopping for pumpkin puree make sure you get the can that says 100% pumpkin and NOT pumpkin pie filling.
Unfortunately, it can be confusing as they both have a picture of pumpkin pie on the can.
You can also use homemade pumpkin puree if you have some.
Peanut butter
Peanut butter helps to hold these treats together.
It also provides an added flavor that most dogs enjoy.
When choosing a peanut butter to use its best to use all-natural peanut butter with no added sweeteners.
But you can use any brand you want as long as it does NOT contain xylitol.
I recently switched to 100% Peanuts peanut butter from Walmart for use in dog treats but Ive used whatever I have in my cupboard in the past.
Oats
Like the peanut butter, I use whatever type of oats I have on hand, which is usually either old-fashioned oats or quick oats.
Both old-fashioned and quick oats work well in this treat, though I do prefer the quick oats as they seem to mix a little better.
Luna and Morgan get to taste test
Every recipe I make gets to be taste tested by my dogs, Luna and Morgan.
For this recipe, both Luna and Morgan enjoyed the treats so much that it was hard to get a good picture of them.
Like any treat, give these to your dogs in moderation. And if your dog has allergies or food sensitivities, check with your vet before giving these to them.
I hope your dogs enjoy these homemade treats as much as mine do.
